So, it's a little bit different from the original, of course, but it tastes just like it! Instead of the crunchiness that sits on top, you get this gorgeous fluffiness, much like the texture of that other dearly loved childhood treaty drink, the ice cream spider. Ah, spider. I'd forgotten all about you.
This is all you do: crack a young coconut * (I believe you can get them in the supermarket, though I recommend not supporting those big bully ones - ask your local IGA or equivalent to get them in), pour it into the blender, add a big spoonful of raw cacao powder, and a teeny bit of agave or raw honey, and blend! This drink is seriously the only thing that has kept me alive over the last couple of weeks!
Coconut water is amazing. Energising and full of electrolytes, calcium, magnesium, great for upset tummies. It's also antibacterial and is so close a match to blood plasma that it can actually be used in blood transfusions! And, I just recently learned that coconut water can help break up kidney stones! I wish I had known that when I had mine :(
Cacao is an equally amazing substance. Super high in antioxidants, phytonutrients, iron, zinc, magnesium, protein. An awesome thing to take up if you're trying to quit caffeine, too. It gives you a beautiful high, clear headed and creative rather than cloudy and grumpy like you can get from coffee (in my experience, anyway).
